Meet Amenhotep 1 (18th dynasty, r 1525–1504 BC). His mummy was digitally unwrapped using CT scanning. The first image shows what his skull looks like. The mummy was made of made of painted wood and cartonnage (image 2). He was 35 years old when he died and ruled for 21 years. His mummy resides at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It was unwrapped in the 11 century BC to repair damage by grave robbers and was then hidden at Luxor.
According to the paper: “The mummy of Amenhotep I is in a general good preservation condition. Multiple postmortem injuries are identified…” and he also had very good teeth compared to other pharaohs.
